Where Are You Putting Your But?
I'm sure I've shared this before, and I want to keep sharing it because our words (and thoughts which become words) are much more important to the outcomes of our lives and health than anyone ever teaches us.
Our word for the month isn't just a single word, but a swap from one word to another word.
BUT → AND
This simple swap in your thoughts and speech is so powerful, it's almost ridiculous.
Imagine your Spleen Qi Deficient patient sitting in your office, and saying to you, “I want to get healthy, BUT I don't want to give up my smoothies.”
Now, let's make the swap: what if she said instead, “I want to get healthy, AND I don't want to give up my smoothies.”
Both things can be true at the same time and you, as the doctor are more likely to guide her to a life of having both things, and here's the science behind the swap:
To the unconscious mind (UCM), the word BUT negates everything in the former part of the sentence.
Have you ever had a partner say to you, “I love you, BUT…”? How did that feel? I bet it didn't feel great because, your conscious mind heard that they love you, and your UCM heard, “I love you, but not really!” Everything that came after the BUT is the only thing that mattered to the UCM.
Where have you been putting your BUT in the wrong place?
